Electronic Dental Record - Tailored to the Profession of Correctional Dentistry

SPDS spent years developing Correctional Dental Software (CDS), a patented software product that manages large scale statewide dental operations in correctional environments. To complement CDS and with goals of bringing the Profession of Correctional Dentistry up to the technological standards within the private sector, SPDS has developed an Electronic Dental Record (EDR) that is 100% tailored to the Profession of Correctional Dentistry. SPDS has been very dedicated to advancing the technology within our profession.

An Electronic Health Record (EHR), or in our profession of correctional dentistry, an Electronic Dental Record (EDR), basically refers to the systematized collection of patient health information in a digital format that is electronically stored for easy retrieval. Effective EDRs should include a range of data, including: demographics; vital signs; personal statistics - age and weight; medical history; medications; allergies; a detailed tooth charting application; treatment plans; prescription orders; detailed SOAP treatment notes for each dental encounter and the ability to transmit digital radiographs into the EDR. The EDR eliminates the need to track down a patient's previous paper medical records and radiographs, and assists in ensuring data is accurate, legible, and readily available.

SPDS reached out to over 20 dedicated “correctional dental professionals” (Dentists, Dental Hygienists, Dental Assistants and Administrators) with an average of over 15 years of correctional dentistry experience, soliciting feedback on what they need and want in an EDR. This feedback played an important role in the development of SPDS’s Electronic Dental Record (EDR). SPDS’s EDR works hand-in-hand with CDS, in essence - one system.

Deploying SPDS’ web based application of Correctional Dental Software, Electronic Dental Record and a methodology to transmit radiographs into the EDR will result in any Department of Corrections Dental Operations being the most technologically advanced within the US. These applications will bring your organization to levels never achieved and make you a leader among the Profession of Correctional Dentistry.

SPDS strongly looks forward to providing a demonstration of CDS and the EDR.
